Huawei P50 Pocket vs Galaxy Z Flip 3: Clamshell Showdown

Right when we thought we had to wait 2022 to see the next fold batch, Oppo and Huawei proved us wrong. While Oppo found and took after and competed with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Huawei P50 pocket observed Samsung’s folding clamshell instead. It’s almost too easy to consider the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Wannabe, but there must be some of the main things that make it conflict with Samsung’s best-selling folding.

When it comes to hardware, there must be many places where both are almost similar. Pocket Huawei P50 has a larger 6.9-inch internal fold screen, but the 2790 × 1188 resolution means having a slightly lower pixel density. It has a larger 4,000 mAh battery that even includes 40W charging faster.

Of course there is a place where both are different, and in most cases, it is the most important. Memory options, for example, sound better than Galaxy Z Flip 3, especially 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage. That said, the Snapdragon Huawei P50 Pocket 888 did not have 5G support because it was a Qualcomm concession to allow Huawei to use chips even though there was a US ban.

However, the most direct difference is seen between two clamshells that can be folded, however, in design. For one, the camera and the cover of the cover on the back of the Huawei P50 pocket are very different, but more about it later. The biggest difference is in size and hinges, set the cellphone regardless of the Samsung version.

Huawei P50 pocket is greater than the Galaxy Z Flip 3. In fact, actually greater than the superior P50 Pro Huawei itself when opened. And just like a folding cellphone Mate X2, Huawei boasts a patented hinge that allows to hang up without a gap in the middle.

The camera is another area where Huawei takes items to the next level, and not only in his appearance. After the Huawei P50 design, there are three cameras crammed in a circular lump. Not only is it more than what Galaxy Z flip 3 has, but they all also have better hardware.

The main camera has a larger 40MP sensor with a PDAF and AF laser, even though it is missed on OIS. There is a 13MP ultrawide camera too, similar to what is on the Huawei P50. Not surprisingly, there is no telefoto camera perisscope style, and the strange 32MP sensor is labeled as a “ultra spectrum camera” to help accumulate more light and color data.

Another key aspect in which the Huawei P50 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 pocket is very different is an external screen. The Huawei version is not only smaller at 1.04 inches, but also comes in a circular form. On the one hand, it means it’s not ideal for reading notifications and text messages. On the other hand, it also presents a more familiar screen similar to Watch Faces.
